Socionext Inc. has received 21st “Technology Award” from the Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine, for the development of handheld ultrasonic imaging system, the viewphii-US. The “Technology Award” is given annualy to individual or group who develop new technologies and are expected to contribute to the advancements in the field of ultrasonic medicine. The award ceremony was held on May 22 at the 94th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine, in Kobe City, Japan.
Ultrasonic Diagnostic Imaging System viewphii-US
The "viewphii-US" is a handheld ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system that features original LSIs developed by Socionext and integrate key functions to enable an innovative compact and lightweight form factor, wireless operation and battery life that lasts for three hours. The technology and know-how of ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system in this system are available for license to medical device manufacturers.
"It is a great encouragement for us to receive this award in recognition of our efforts to develop an ultra-compact, ultra-lightweight diagnostic imaging system that can be fully utilized,” says Masaya Tamamura, Leader of Medical Solution Team at Socionext. “Socionext is currently developing the next-generation handheld device that can deliver high image quality and performance comparable to mid-range console type of products.
